Interdisciplinary investigation into the philosophy of scientific thought
The Philosophy of Scientific Thought Initiative (PSTI) is a research cluster at Notre Dame that brings together practice-oriented philosophers of science, scientific practitioners, and historians of science in order to advance the foundations of these disciplines. We have a special interest in research that investigates the philosophical complexities of modeling and idealization in the natural sciences as well as in economics and finance, and understanding the continuities and differences in these methods as they have evolved from antiquity to the present day.
